A recording by the Frode Gjerstad Trio in an expanded form, uniting the Norwegian saxophonist with two giants of American free jazz: bassist William Parker and drummer Hamid Drake. Released by Not Two in 2017, the album documents a transatlantic summit, Gjerstad's keening alto and clarinet riding the deep, propulsive rhythmic foundation of one of the most celebrated rhythm sections in the music, a meeting of the Norwegian and New York creative-music traditions.
