About This Release
A larger-ensemble work by Hungarian violist and composer Szilárd Mezei, who was born and remains based in Vojvodina, in northern Serbia. Bot (2009) expands his writing beyond the small group, marshalling a sizeable cast through the knotty, folk-inflected structures that distinguish his work — material grounded in the Hungarian musical heritage of his region but pushed toward open improvisation and a modern classical sensibility.
