An album by the Cosmosamatics, the co-operative led by two veterans of American free jazz: alto saxophonist Sonny Simmons — a singular voice whose career stretched back to the 1960s New York avant-garde — and multi-reedist Michael Marcus, joined by drummer Jay Rosen and Clifford Barbaro. Released by Not Two in 2004, Reeds & Birds captures the group during the prolific early-2000s run that made the Cosmosamatics one of the most active partnerships in the music, bringing seasoned fire to the label's international roster.
