A recording by Side A, the cooperative trio of reedist Ken Vandermark, Norwegian pianist Håvard Wiik and drummer Chad Taylor. Released by Not Two in 2014, In the Abstract brings together players from the Chicago, Norwegian and New York scenes in a group that balances Vandermark's compositional rigor with open collective playing, one of several Vandermark projects central to the label's catalog.
