A recording by the Motion Trio of Portuguese tenor saxophonist Rodrigo Amado, with cellist Miguel Mira and drummer Gabriel Ferrandini. Released by Not Two in 2014, The Flame Alphabet captures one of the leading working groups in European free jazz — its unusual sax-cello-drums instrumentation, lacking a bassist, giving the music a distinctive openness and grain — as Amado's warm, robust tenor leads a deeply interactive collective sound.
