A quintet led by tenor saxophonist Kris Wanders — the European free-jazz veteran and former Globe Unity Orchestra member long based in Australia — with German drummer Mani Neumeier, a founder of the pioneering krautrock group Guru Guru. Released by Not Two in 2011, Taken By Surprise brings together players from the free-jazz and experimental-rock worlds in a high-energy collective meeting.
