About This Release
A duo recording by pianist Matthew Shipp and guitarist-bassist Joe Morris, longtime compatriots on the New York and Boston scenes. Recorded in 2010 and released by Not Two in 2011, Broken Partials presents an eight-part suite of improvised music with Morris on acoustic bass — bowed and plucked — meeting Shipp's full-keyboard attack in a dense, ever-evolving conversation, the latest in a series of duos the two had pursued since the 1990s.
