About This Release
A solo album by saxophonist Simon Rose, a British-born improviser working primarily on baritone and alto, deeply engaged with extended technique and the physical sound of the instrument. Recorded at St. Joseph Krankenhaus psychiatric hospital in Berlin, presents Rose alone, exploring the full sonic and expressive range of the saxophone in unaccompanied improvisation. No no post-production treatment of the sound was used, only raw saxophone sound in that space, without editing.

Recorded at St. Joseph Krankenhaus psychiatric hospital in Berlin, Germany between 10 and 12:30 a.m. on April 27, 2010. The recording was made in an extraordinary, boat shaped hall with a wooden structure in the high ceiling. The building is surrounded by the trees and plants and bird song could be clearly heard in the quieter parts. There was no post-production treatment of the sound, which represents saxophone sound in that space, without editing.
