The third release by Locksmith Isidore, the trio of bass clarinetist Jason Stein with bassist Jason Roebkee and drummer Mike Pride. Released by Not Two in 2010, Three Kinds of Happiness blends free jazz with more mainstream improvisation in an agile, woody-toned program; a highlight, the track 'Arch and Shipp,' nods to Archie Shepp and Matthew Shipp, combining Shepp's earthy growl with Shipp's icy spaciousness. A showcase for one of the few leaders to front a group on the unwieldy bass clarinet.
