A duo recording pairing the Brazilian tenor saxophonist Ivo Perelman — a fiercely expressive improviser whose raw, vocalized sound parallels his work as a painter — with the prolific American bassist Dominic Duval, one of the most-recorded bassists in free jazz. The two had collaborated many times, and Nowhere to Hide (2008) finds Perelman in an unusually contemplative mode, his long, searching improvisations leavened by glancing references to jazz melody, met by Duval's deeply responsive bass.
