Barmikor, most (Anytime, now)

An album by the trio of violist and composer Szilárd Mezei, a leading figure among the Hungarian community of Vojvodina, the multiethnic region of northern Serbia where he was born and works. Trained in viola and in composition at the Belgrade academy, Mezei roots his music in the Hungarian folk tradition of the region while drawing on contemporary classical writing and free improvisation. Released by Not Two in 2008, Barmikor, most (Anytime, now) is an early document of one of the most distinctive compositional voices in Central European creative music.
