About This Release
A trio recording featuring composer-pianist Jerome Kitzke with bassist Steve Rust and drummer Harvey Sorgen. Released by Not Two in 2019, Big Tent presents a freely interactive American group in a program of contemporary improvised music, Kitzke's distinctive compositional sensibility informing the collective playing. The program interweaves the trio's free improvisations with Kitzke's reading of four poems by Lawrence Ferlinghetti from his book 'A Coney Island of the Mind,' in honor of his 100th birthday. The album's title references Ferlinghetti's poem 'I Am Waiting'.
