Originally conceived as a four‑trombone quartet, the project was reshaped into a trio after the sudden passing of Johannes “Hannes” Bauer, whose absence inevitably shadows the music. Released by Not Two in 2017, Konzert für Hannes delves into the raw, metallic sonority of a brass‑centered improvising ensemble, drawing equally on the German and American creative‑music traditions. The recording stands as both a tribute and an exploration—an encounter where timbre, breath, and collective intuition carry the emotional weight of a missing voice.
